WILD 32

What is Wild32?

Wild32 is an invitation to refocus, reorient, and recommit to becoming a better man one day at a time.

In short it looks something like this:

  • In short, the 32 days of W32 look like:

    • EXERCISING 32 minutes/day

    • SUBSTANCE AWARENESS (No alcohol, marijuana, etc.)

    • READING 10 minutes/day

    • BEING OUTSIDE 10 minutes/day

    • SITTING IN SILENCE 10 minutes/day

    • CHECKING IN daily. We text one another to report on how we did yesterday and sharing 2 things today:

      • I’m grateful for ___________.

      • I feel _________.

Obviously you could do this without us, but you probably won’t.
(and if you do, that’s great. This is less about Wilds & The Woods and more about men becoming better versions of themselves.)

We’ve identified three reasons why doing Wild32 works:

Accountability

Thinking about doing something? Cool.
Saying you’re going to do something? Great!
Telling other people you’re going to do something? Even better.
Telling other people who are going to do the same thing and ask you if you’re following through? This is where the magic happens.

For 32 consecutive days other people are aware of whether you’re following through on something you’ve committed to. We believe (and have experienced) the power of accountability through Wild32.

Structure

A simple, clear structure goes a long way when it comes to adding something to an already busy life.

The structure of Wild32 is designed to make you more aware of your daily actions and the consequences (positive or negative) of those actions.

Momentum

Being self-aware for 32 days in a row impacts the next 32 days dramatically.

It’s easier to say no to ice cream before bed.
You’ll crave drink number 2 less.
You’ll desire to wake up feeling strong and capable rather than groggy and muddled.
You’ll discover new energy with consistent exercise and less toxins (sugar/alcohol) in your system.

When the challenge is over you’ll find yourself missing check-ins and wanting to do another, rather than being grateful it’s over (or we’ve done something wrong).

ITEMS OF NOTE:

No starting over if you miss a day.

This is about incremental progress and increased awareness. You get out what you put in.

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Eating a piece of cake at your daughter’s birthday party is encouraged.
Toasting a glass of champagne at your best friend’s wedding is a must.
Skipping an exercise because your wife wants to go on a date? Yes. (But this one has to be made up by you or your fellow men).

Don’t just go through the motions; be thoughtful about your consistency, or lack thereof.

It must get done.

For the exercise, reading, and sitting in silence there is one rule: IT MUST GET DONE.

At the end of the 32 days you must account for 320 minutes of each (but you can ask for help).

Asking for help is one of my biggest weaknesses. I have this idealistic view of what it means to be a man and it does not include asking for help.

The most impactful times of Wild32 for me were the day(s) when I needed help. Whether it was a busy schedule, a mismanagement of time, or the need to just take a break I knew there was a way to do that. But it never only impacted me.

If you miss a workout there are a couple options:

  • Ask someone else to do 32 extra minutes of exercise

  • Do 32 minutes of extra exercise the following day

We acknowledge that life happens.

And we also acknowledge there are consequences that come with our actions (or lack of action).

This is our way of balancing those two things.
