Thresholds as Resistance

Carl Jung wrote that men’s dreams tend to change around the age of 35.

And I'd argue that those changing dreams are not only the ones we have when we're asleep, but also the ones we have when we're awake during the day, staring at a computer screen.

I've come to see life, or reality, as an endless cycle:

Orientation ->
Disorientation ->
Reorientation

Order ->
Disorder ->
Reorder

Bang ->
Expansion ->
Contraction

Life ->
Death ->
Resurrection

These words can be used interchangeably, and the stages are separated by thresholds that mark the leaving of one space and entering of another.

We often experience thresholds as resistance:

- We have an idea we know we need to pay attention to.
- Something within desires to exist without.
- We begin to do some work, only to be met with doubt, insecurity, uncertainty.

At this point, we have two options:
1. Turn back
2. Move forward

Which will you choose?
